Lights, camera, community at Maleny Film Festival

Reside was proud to return as a sponsor of the Maleny Film Festival for a second consecutive year, continuing our support of one of the Sunshine Coast hinterland’s most loved cultural events.

Hosted by the Maleny Film Society, the festival is a vibrant celebration of cinema and community, bringing people together to enjoy a curated selection of films in a fun, social setting.

Opening night on 13 March once again set the tone for the weekend, with its much-anticipated themed costume dress code. This year, the spotlight was firmly on Australian film, with attendees invited to come dressed as iconic Australian actors and characters.

Embracing the spirit of the evening, our Maleny Grove Sales Manager Desley Arnold arrived as the unmistakable Dame Edna, while Maleny Grove Village Manager Tina Sewell stepped out as The Lady in Black, inspired by the film of the same name.

Desley said the festival was a highlight on the local calendar and a fantastic way to bring people together.

“It’s such a fun and creative event that really captures the spirit of the Maleny community,” she said.

“The themed opening night is always a standout. Everyone gets involved, and there’s such a great sense of connection and laughter in the room.”

She said the focus on Australian films this year made the event even more special.

“It was wonderful to celebrate Australian storytelling and see so many people embrace the theme through their costumes. Events like this are what make Maleny such a unique and vibrant place to live.”

The event was a wonderful reflection of the creativity, connection and community spirit that defines Maleny. For the team at Maleny Grove, it was a joy to be part of an occasion that celebrates Australian storytelling while bringing the local community together.
