More reasons to love Maleny with exciting town upgrades planned
Our residents are already enjoying the best of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland with boutique shops, scenic trails and breathtaking views on their doorstep. And now more exciting upgrades are on the way to make life in Maleny even better.
In the town, the long-awaited Maleny streetscape upgrade has secured almost $3 million in funding from the Sunshine Coast Council, and will deliver four new pedestrian crossings, kerb extensions, more shade trees and gardens, new seating and gathering areas, and wayfinding signage. Project completion is scheduled for the June 2026 school holidays.
In the neighbouring town of Montville, Main Street will receive a $42,000 safety and maintenance upgrade, including footpath improvements.
Other projects include a $450,000 upgrade at the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Rainforest Discovery Centre, comprising $122,806 for the track renewal.
The Maleny Community Precinct district recreation park has received $855,000, while a further $500,000 has been allocated for phase three of the Sunshine Coast Ecological Park design. An additional $250,000 has been set aside for a new off-leash dog area at the Maleny Precinct.
Reside Communities CEO Glen Brown welcomed the upgrades.
“It’s wonderful to see investment flowing into Maleny and surrounds,” he said.
“These new projects will make an incredible community even better, enhancing safety, accessibility, and the beauty of the places our residents and their families love to visit.”
Meanwhile, as Maleny Grove grows from 28 residences to 94 thoughtfully designed villas, there is even more opportunity to join this warm and welcoming community.
